Audit: where Volga Dance Academy loses families, and what to do about it

I took a close look at how Atlanta parents find (and don't find) your studio: your website (31 pages), your Google, Apple and Bing listings, all 1,546 Shorts and 160 videos on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, 16 parent questions in Perplexity and Google (search, Maps and AI Mode), competitor studios and the school-district rules. The main finding: you have the best reputation and the biggest audience of any studio in Atlanta, but neither Google, nor AI, nor YouTube walks a parent to a trial class. Below is everything I found and a step-by-step plan for what I'd do in your place. You can do almost all of it yourselves: each step says exactly where to change it in Tilda, Google or YouTube. At the very end there's a short note on how I can help, if you'd rather hand it to me.

202
Google reviews at 4.8. More than any studio in your category in Atlanta.

What I saw

Everything below comes from public sources on 5-6 and 11 October 2026: your website, Google, Apple and Bing, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, the directories and lists AI engines cite, competitor and school-district sites, and published studies. I don't have your internal numbers (students, revenue, ads), so this is only what's visible from the outside.

What already works

  • 4.8 stars from 202 Google reviews. Next in the category: Academy Ballroom 186, PASOFino 176.
  • AI already treats you as the best in kids ballroom: Perplexity puts you first for "best ballroom dance studio for kids in Atlanta", "kids ballroom dance classes Atlanta" and "summer dance camp Atlanta 2027", and Google AI Mode first for "competitive ballroom dance for kids Georgia".
  • 421K YouTube subscribers, 29 Shorts over a million views, the top one at 81.7M. Plus 26K on Instagram and 50.6K on Facebook. Your Instagram audience is roughly 5-30 times larger than competitor studios'.
  • A real venue: five floors, and outside groups (swing, salsa) already run evenings in your building.
  • Since 2007 (in Atlanta since 2014), 9 instructors, a competitive team, a youth nonprofit and a Fulton County Schools contractor badge valid to 09/2028.

Where families slip away

  • One studio, four names and two websites (table below). Google and Bing still send people to the old vcdcatlanta.com, and the Apple Maps listing is unclaimed.
  • The directories AI engines quote describe you as "ballroom only": kidsdancemap says "Ballroom, Creative Movement", and ballroomdances.org is unclaimed and shows 70 reviews instead of 202. That's why AI doesn't name you for general kids questions.
  • Google says you open at 8 AM, the site says 9 AM.
  • Mobile speed 26 of 100 on the homepage and 9 of 100 on the kids classes page. The schedule page lists no classes. No page has the markup that tells Google and AI this is a dance school, what its classes are and the answers to common questions (only Tilda's automatic image tags).
  • No pages answer what parents ask: neighborhoods, after-school, homeschool, acrobatics, Russian-speaking families, rentals. You rank about #14 on Google for "ballroom dance classes Atlanta".
  • A trial is booked only through a form (name, phone, email); there's no online booking. The site's code has no Google Analytics and no Meta pixel, only Tilda's built-in stats. Without the pixel, Instagram and Facebook ads can't see who sent a request, so they can't learn to find similar parents.

How the internet names you

NameWhere it appears
Volga Dance AcademyYour site, your Google profile, kidsdancemap.com, ballroomdances.org

vcdcatlanta.comold, redirects to the new oneYour Google profile, Bing Places, kidsdancemap.com, ballroomdances.org, Atlanta Parent
volgadanceacademy.comOnly your own site

To Google and AI this looks like several different places. So the 202 reviews under "Volga Dance Academy" don't help when a parent searches for kids classes, and directories copy the old website from your Google profile. I'm not counting the Volga Youth nonprofit here: it's a separate organization.

AI and Google answers: 16 parent questions, 11 October

One run, signed out, Google set to Doraville. AI answers change from run to run, so it's worth repeating this check once a month: same questions, compare the results.

ChatGPT and Gemini can't be tested without an account; you can check them from your own account with the same questions.

YouTube and social: huge reach that never reaches the studio

What I sawWhat it means
1,546 Shorts, about 373M views. 25 of them hold 88% of all Shorts views.People still watch these 25. They are 25 ready-made places to invite viewers to a trial.
120 of the latest 123 Shorts have an empty description. No description has the studio phone. The channel's About page never says "Atlanta". The channel trailer has 644 views, and none of the 24 playlists is about classes.A viewer in Atlanta never learns the studio is nearby.
The only pinned comment, under a Short with 60M views, is Amazon shoe links. The top 200 comments on the 81.7M Short have zero replies from the channel. "I'm joining, where is it at?" and "¿Dónde están ustedes?" went unanswered.People ask where you are. An answer to that is a lead.
For "ballroom dance classes atlanta" on YouTube search you're #2 and #4, but with competition clips. #1 is Academy Ballroom with "Why Academy Ballroom Atlanta?", which has 59 views. One plain video about your classes in Atlanta can take the top spot.
Question titles work: 115 such Shorts hold 30% of all views. "The best kids and teachers are at the Volga Dance Academy" got 1.79M, "Jive basics" 1.67M. Your podcast is the most-watched long video (47,906).You already have formats that reach parents. They just need to point at Atlanta.
2026 rhythm: about 17 Shorts a week January to May, none in June and July, 3-4 a week since August. New Shorts get a median of about 6,000 views versus 13,000 for the library.A steady 3-5 a week beats bursts and gaps.
TikTok was growing: median views 434 in 2023, 946 in 2024, 2,040 in 2025, with 14 posts over 10K. The last post, on 17 March, got 156K, and nothing since. The same videos can go there with no extra filming.

Why this matters for AI search too: Ahrefs and BrightEdge studies find YouTube is the most cited source in Google AI Overviews (22.9-29.5% of citations). A video with the city and a clear description helps YouTube, Google and AI at once. Sources below.

Competitors with fewer reviews run online booking, autopay and reminders: Academy Ballroom and Dancing Like A Star on Mindbody, EIM and Elite on Jackrabbit. Research says speed decides: the odds of reaching a lead drop about 100 times between 5 and 30 minutes (MIT / InsideSales), and the average business answers a web lead in 42 hours (Harvard Business Review). If you've run ads before and they didn't pay off, the first thing to check is how fast requests were answered.

Where I'd start: 14 steps for the first week

These steps are free and need no site rebuild. Together they remove the main reasons Google and AI don't connect your reviews to the kids programs. Menu paths are for Tilda's English interface.

#What to do, and where
1Website volgadanceacademy.com instead of vcdcatlanta.com, the name Volga Dance Academy and your true hours (Google says 8 AM today, the site says 9)Google profile: Edit profile
2Claim the Apple listing and change the name from "Volga Child Development Center" and the website. Apple's verification may take a whilebusinessconnect.apple.com
3The same name and website on BingBing Places
4Redirect the 5 dead old-site links to the right pagesTilda: Site Settings → SEO → 301 Redirects
5New titles and descriptions on your ~12 main pages: what, for whom and where. For example "Kids Ballroom Dance Classes in Doraville, Atlanta | Volga Dance Academy" instead of "Classes"Tilda: Page Settings → SEO
6Image descriptions (alt text): who is in the photo and which classTilda: the Content panel of each block
7Google Analytics with a "trial request" goalTilda: Site Settings → Analytics
8Search Console: connect it, or check that you already have accessTilda: Site Settings → SEO → Google Search Console
9The Meta pixel and a "Lead" event from every form, so Instagram and Facebook ads can see requestsTilda: Site Settings → More → HTML code for the head section; Site Settings → Forms → Facebook Conversion API
10Studio markup for Google and AI: name, address, phone, hours, ages, links to every profileTilda: Page Settings → Additional → HTML Code For Head-Zone
11One block under each of your 25 most-watched Shorts: "Volga Dance Academy, Atlanta", the trial link, the phone. Plus a pinned comment, "We teach in Atlanta, the first class is free", in English and RussianYouTube Studio
12Reply to "where are you?" and "how much?" under your most-watched videos, in the language of the questionYouTube Studio: Comments
13Facebook page category "Dance school" instead of "Artist"Facebook page settings
14Run the site through Tilda's built-in checker and fix what it flagsTilda: Site Settings → SEO → SEO Assistant

How to tell it's working: Tilda's stats show visits and UTM tags, Google Analytics shows requests by source, and Search Console shows which searches find you. Once a month, ask Perplexity and Google the same 16 questions and compare with the table above.

The full plan, area by area

Order matters: first the foundation (one name, one site, measurement), then fast answers to requests, and only then ads. The site and parent-facing copy stay in English, the page for Russian-speaking families is in Russian and English, and the trial page is also in Spanish. Everything is done in Tilda, your current builder; no rebuild needed.

1. Google and AI search (SEO, AEO, GEO)

SEO is about Google. AEO and GEO are about getting ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews to name you when a parent asks them about kids dance. All three need the same things: one name and one address everywhere, directories with correct facts, and a page that answers the parent's question directly. Nobody can honestly promise rankings in Google or AI, so measure the results every month.

WhenWhat to doWhat it fixes
Week 1Steps 1-10 aboveFour names and two sites. AI can't merge them into one studio, so the weight of 202 reviews never reaches the kids programs
Week 1Correct the directories AI quotes: claim ballroomdances.org, the full program list on kidsdancemap, the new name, site and a business email in the Atlanta Parent directory; prices on danceus.org"Ballroom only", 70 reviews instead of 202, the "$70" price in AI answers
Week 2A real weekly timetable as text; a 10-15 question parent FAQ with markup; re-save images at about 1600 px wide and under 200 KB (about 13 MB of excess on the homepage); review asks for Yelp and AppleSpeed on phones, and direct answers AI can quote
Weeks 3-4A page for every question where you're missing: kids dance in Doraville, Chamblee, Dunwoody and Brookhaven, after-school, homeschool, acrobatics, camp 2027, Russian-speaking families, wedding dance, studio rental. Each with a direct answer, ages, prices, timetable and FAQ0 of 6 general parent questions, and the Russian-speaking question lost since 6 October
Weeks 3-4Get onto the lists AI cites: ask Atlanta Parent for the price of their list, pitch Mommy Poppins (their list has no ballroom studio at all), the Macaroni Kid calendar. Ask the swing and salsa groups that use your floors to link to your site under the right name"best kids dance classes in Atlanta": both engines take the answer from lists you're not on

2. Answering requests and a steady flow of new families

Ads come last on purpose. The table shows why: with the same $1,000 a month, the result swings from about 1 to about 15 enrollments, and almost all of that swing is how fast and how well a request is handled, not the ad itself.

Step, $1,000/month exampleLowHighBasis
Leads from $500 Google + $500 Meta2453Published cost per lead, LocaliQ 2026 (vendor data)B
Reached and booked into a trial103740-70%, depends on response speedS
Came to the trial53050-80%, reminders matterS
Enrolled~1~1520-50%, no verified dance benchmark existsS

B = published benchmark. S = planning assumption; your real numbers show up after about 60 days of tracking.

Answer in minutes
Instant email and text with a booking link, a call alert, 3 follow-ups, a reminder before the trial. Studio software like Jackrabbit and Mindbody does part of this out of the box.
Reviews and referrals
An ask after the trial and after 30 days, naming the program. 74% of consumers weigh only reviews from the last 3 months (BrightLocal 2026).
A monthly kids event
Parents' night out (local price $15-47) or a party package, listed on free family calendars. Every guest's contact and consent captured.
Homeschool daytime classes
Georgia has 89,000+ homeschooled students, and your floors are empty during the day. Target: 2-3 co-op partners by January.
Community partners
Cross-promotion with Erudite and Nature & Kids & Crafts in your building, Russian School Atlanta, King David Academy and the rusatl group. Doraville is 45% foreign-born and 46% Hispanic, so the trial page goes into Spanish too.
Rent the empty hours
A rental page, Peerspace and Giggster listings (they take 19-20%) and direct offers to the groups already running evenings in your building.
Local Google ads, later
Local Services Ads ("Dance instructor" is an eligible category) and a tight-radius search campaign, $500-1,000 a month, only once step one works.

3. YouTube and social lead to the studio

You don't need to film more: you already get millions of views. The job is making sure a viewer in Atlanta learns you're nearby and books a trial.

First two weeks

  • The description block and pinned comment (step 11) on your top 25 Shorts and every new video. Today the only pin is Amazon shoe links.
  • Channel page: Atlanta, address and phone in the description, a "Classes in Atlanta" playlist, a new trailer.
  • Once a week, go through new comments and reply to "where are you?" and "how much?" in English, Russian and Spanish.

After that

  • A 1-2 minute "Kids Ballroom Classes in Atlanta" video, filmed on a phone. It also becomes the Related Video on your Shorts: YouTube allows that link right in a Short.
  • A "Parents ask" series: 10-15 short answers from the FAQ. Each answer works three times: a Short, a page on the site, and an answer AI can quote.
  • Reuse formats that already pulled millions: a question title, dance "basics", jumps. The city goes only in local titles, so you keep the worldwide audience.
  • Your call: make 2-3 members-only kids lessons public. Today none of your tutorial videos makes the top 20 for 4 tutorial searches.
  • One shoot, five places: Shorts, TikTok, Reels, Facebook and your Google profile (videos up to 30 seconds). Bring TikTok back with no extra filming. A steady 3-5 Shorts a week.

To see which cities your viewers are in, open the audience analytics in YouTube Studio.

4. Studio system: attendance, referrals, procedures

Studio software is cheaper to buy than to build. For example Jackrabbit Class: EIM and Elite in Atlanta use it, from $49 a month. It has phone attendance, an absence trigger, lead tracking, a "who referred you" field and autopay. Before buying, ask for a demo and test how the absence trigger works. If another platform suits you better, that works too.

Referrals and thank-you gifts

  • Every form asks "Who referred you?", with a referral report in your studio software.
  • One rule for everyone: the day a referred family enrolls, thank the family that referred them, with a gift of your choice.
  • Every quarter, a list of your top referrers. No separate referral software ($35-250+ a month) needed.

Procedures for a busy studio

  • A good procedure answers 8 questions: who owns it, what triggers it, step order, templates, a measurable standard, version, training, who checks it.
  • 16 areas worth covering: leads and trials, enrollment, retention, complaints, schedule, attendance, private lessons, competition travel, hiring and checks, incidents, opening and closing, camp, billing, rentals, social media, weekly numbers.

5. Georgia schools

Your badge (as I read your post) is from Fulton County Schools. It proves a background check; it doesn't buy a time slot. And the eight schools within two miles of you (6,365 students) are all in DeKalb, which has its own process. That's the most likely reason emails go unanswered, along with DeKalb asking vendors not to make sales calls without an appointment.

Official pipelines

  • DeKalb: Partnerships Interest Form (2-week review), vendor registration in Tyler Portico, DeKalb background check, $1M general liability insurance.
  • Fulton: apply to the after-school enrichment vendor list (RFQ 143-23, rolling). Dance vendors on it today: EIM and iShine.
  • Fulton's before/after-school contract (RFP 130-27) closes 20 October. Don't bid alone; talk to the bidders about subcontracting before then.

Warm doors

  • 3-5 PTA-connected parents introduce you to their school's cultural arts chair.
  • A free half-hour workshop for the PTA Reflections contest. This year's theme is "What My Culture Means to Me", and school deadlines fall in October.
  • First targets: Doraville United, Pleasantdale, Oakcliff and Evansdale elementary schools, all in your ZIP code.

What to prepare: a one-page school offer with your proof (badge, insurance, years since 2007), a crosswalk to Georgia dance and PE standards, a PTA kit, a 10-week residency deck, a script parents can forward, and a /schools page on your site. Plus a simple tracker: school, contact, date emailed, when to follow up.

What to avoid

This protects your income

  • No ads until every request gets an answer in minutes. Otherwise it's paid clicks with no enrollments.
  • No cold emails to principals and no bought lists: DeKalb explicitly asks vendors not to.
  • Don't trust anyone who promises rankings in Google or AI. Honest work comes with measurements, not guarantees.

This protects the children and your name

  • No promotional texts without a parent's written consent, and no messages outside 9 AM-8 PM.
  • Ask for reviews, never reward them: Google doesn't allow it. Gifts are for referrals only.

If you'd like me to do it

You can do everything above yourselves. If you'd rather not spend the time, I can do it all for you: the core fixes in the first few days, the whole system within 4 weeks. And add something no studio software has: an AI employee that keeps this work going every day.

The AI employee isn't a bot but a real assistant that works 24/7 with no days off: it answers trial requests in minutes, tracks who hasn't been called yet, drafts absence texts and referral thank-yous, replies to YouTube comments, keeps the school tracker, and sends a morning brief and a monthly report on your Google and AI rankings. Everything about your studio goes into its knowledge base, so it answers like your front desk would, in English, Russian or Spanish. It goes live in week one; for the first week it only drafts and you approve every answer.

This is just the start. Your AI employee isn't limited to this list: reports, routine work and new tasks as they come up, anywhere it has access to the data.

Example: a missed class

The instructor taps "All Present" on a phone and flips the missing child to Absent.
You get a Telegram card: "Masha V. absent, Junior Ballroom 5:00. 2nd miss in 3 weeks." Tap the number to call.
Or tap Send, Edit or Skip on a ready text in English or Russian. It goes from the studio's number, not your personal phone.
The parent's reply comes back to you with a make-up class offer. A second miss flags the student "at risk" on your weekly call list.

What you get

  • Everything in this audit, done for you: one name, one site and the right hours everywhere, corrected directories, markup, titles, timetable, FAQ, pages for parents' questions, a fast site on phones and measurement.
  • Every trial request gets an answer in minutes, a reminder before the trial and a review ask after it.
  • Jackrabbit with your families, classes and billing: phone attendance, an absence card with the parent's number, referral tracking.
  • A YouTube channel that leads to the studio: descriptions and pinned comments on your top 25 Shorts, the channel page, a script for the Atlanta classes video, a filming plan.
  • The school kit, DeKalb and Fulton applications, and a review of your manual across the 16 areas.
  • An AI employee set up for your studio, with its own knowledge base.
Paid before we start.
Every month
$625 a month

What's covered

  • Your AI employee works for you 24/7: leads, absences, referrals, YouTube comments, schools, a morning brief and a monthly Google and AI report.
  • The server and AI usage.
  • The site, Jackrabbit and Telegram keep working together without glitches: I watch it and fix anything that breaks.
  • I keep your AI employee's knowledge base, rules and context up to date for the work it already does.
  • New complex projects are quoted separately.
Cancel any month.

Working with me adds Zapier ($19.99 a month, connects Jackrabbit to your AI employee) and Twilio for texts from the studio number (~$8-16 a month plus one-time carrier registration, about $20-60; we wait for their review). You pay those directly. Full social media management (filming, editing, daily posting) isn't included. Prices valid for 30 days.

My ground rules

  • I never hold your passwords. You can see every connection and switch it off at any time.
  • Children's records stay in Jackrabbit. Your AI employee sees only what a message needs: first name, class, attendance mark and the parent's phone.
  • Your AI employee never moves money, never decides tax or licensing questions, and never handles anything about a child's safety.
  • Emails to schools and partners are drafts only; you send them from your own inbox.

What I'd need from you

  • Staff access to your Google profile, Tilda, YouTube Studio, Instagram and Facebook. No passwords needed.
  • Your manual (PDF), the weekly schedule and, for schools, who sponsored your badge and your insurance certificate.
  • A Google Drive or Dropbox folder: photos, videos, PDFs, spreadsheets, voice notes, anything about the studio. Your AI employee needs context.
  • Be available when questions come up along the way.
